Conflicted – Chapter 120

The ballroom’s door opened.

Everyone seated in the ballroom rose to their feet, and they are all in awe at the sight of the perfect pair behind the door.

Xi Men and Xiao You looked at their guests in the ballroom, and both of them smiled.

“Awww… they look so good together,” San Chai said.

“I thought you were the one against them,” Mei Zhuo said.

San Chai shot him a glare, “That was 15 years ago!”

Mei Zhuo, Xiao Qiao, Lei, Jing and Ah Si chuckled.

Xi Men and Xiao You walked down the aisle with her hand hooked in his arm and everyone begins clapping.

Xi Men and Xiao You are all smiles and waves briefly at the guests as they head to the stage where they will sign their papers.

Xiao You saw her parents, smiling back at her.

“I didn’t expect Xiao You will find love with the F4 of Taiwan after her divorce from Mark,” Mrs. Yang said.

“Things are unpredictable,” Mr. Yang responded.

Xi Men saw his parents, standing next to each other, looking really happy.

“Xi Men did not look as happy as this when he marries Juliana,” Xi Men’s father said.

Xi Men’s mother nodded. “I agree. We can see for sure that like Xi Men really loves Xiao You,”

Xi Men and Xiao You walked to the stage, and they took a seat in front of the table.

The guests stopped clapping and then sit down.

The registrar of marriage takes over and begins the ceremony.

This session will be about signing marriage documentation in front of all guests, and then a wedding lunch reception after that.

Xi Men and Xiao You opted for lunch reception instead of mostly-preferred dinner reception as they felt lunch reception is more suitable; no gap in between events, and thus will not burden their guests to attend both events in the same day on a different time.

The registrar of marriage begins the first event with speech and talks about plenty of things, and also talks about the marriage documentations that Xi Men and Xiao You are about to sign in front of the guests.

Xi Men had heard the same thing before when he marries Juliana, thus he didn’t pay much attention to it now, and instead, he keeps on looking over to Xiao You, who is sitting next to him.

And Xiao You instead, listened to the registrar of marriage, and occasionally gazes to Xi Men and smiled.

After the registrar talks for about 5 minutes, the papers are presented to Xi Men and Xiao You.

Mr. Xi Men (Xi Men’s father) and Mr. Yang (Xiao You’s father) are called up to the stage to be the witness in signing the documentation.

Mr. Xi Men sat next to Xi Men, while Mr. Yang sat next to Xiao You.

“This is your marriage papers, Mr. Xi Men, Miss Yang,” the registrar said, extending a copy to Xi Men, and another copy to Xiao You.

Xi Men smiled as he looked at the papers in front of him.

Xiao You also looked at the papers in front of her.

‘Xi Men Zhong Er Lang & Yang Xiao You.’

Xi Men smiled upon reading it; he doesn’t wait and grabs the pen and plants his signature.

Just right then, from the corner of her eyes, Xiao You saw what Xi Men does, she turned her head to look at him.

Xi Men lifted the pen up from the papers; looking at his signature in the document.

He then turned his head to look at Xiao You.

Upon meeting her in her eyes, he smiled suavely at Xiao You.

Seeing he smiled at her, Xiao You smiles too.

Xiao You then straightened her head to face the document in front of her, and her turn to sign it.

Xi Men smiled.

The registrar proceeded to ask the witness (Xi Men & Xiao You’s fathers) to sign in the respective witness’ column, before he (the registrar) swaps their documents and then asked Xi Men and Xiao You to sign again.

The moment the swapped document is placed in front of them, both of them looked at the signatures on the document.

Xi Men smiled, just looking at Xiao You’s signature.

Feels so overwhelmed by it too.

‘Finally…’ he thought to himself.

Xiao You smiled as she looked at Xi Men’s signature in the marriage papers.

‘He signed it.’

‘He signed it…’ she repeated her thought.

Tears begin to form in her eyes.

Xi Men turned his head to look at her again.

Xiao You turned her head to look at him too.

Seeing Xiao You’s teary eyes, it prompted Xi Men’s tears to form.

They exchange smiles again.

So simple but yet so meaningful.

“Please sign,” the registrar happened to say, breaking off their locked gaze.

Both of them returned their gaze to the documents in front of them.

It is a wise idea too, both of them should sign it before the pool of tears in their eyes blurred their visions.

Xi Men grabbed the pen and signs on the empty spot meant for him.

Xiao You swallowed the lump in her throat as a mean to control her feelings; and then she plants her signature onto the document.

Still sitting there waiting for the official statement by the registrar, Xi Men extends his hand to hold Xiao You’s hand and their clasped hands rest in between their chairs where no one sees it.

The registrar took the documents and passes them to Xi Men and Xiao You’s fathers to sign as witnesses, again.

Xi Men watches his father signs it.

Xiao You watches her father signs it.

The registrar collects both of the documents and he looked at it; verifying it.

“Mr. Xi Men Zhong Er Lang, Miss Yang Xiao You,” the registrar called.

Xi Men and Xiao You looked at him.

“You are now legally married to each other. I pronounce you; husband and wife,” the registrar smiled at Xi Men and Xiao You.

That’s what Xi Men and Xiao You have been waiting for; they are so overwhelmed by it.

All the guests clapped; with the loudest coming from Lei, Jing, Mei Zhuo, Xiao Qiao, Ah Si and San Chai.

Xi Men stands up on his feet and that prompted Xiao You to do the same; since her hand is in his grip and when he stands up, the action has inadvertently requested her to stand up as well.

He turned to face her, kissing her on her lips immediately; and passionately, in full view of guests.

Lei, Jing, Mei Zhuo, Xiao Qiao, Ah Si and San Chai looked at them.

“Wow,” Mei Zhuo uttered.

“He should know there are kids here… right?” Ah Si asked.

“Dude, kids know what that means,” Mei Zhuo glared at Ah Si while referring to the scene in front of them.

Ah Si glared at Mei Zhuo.

“Oh! Uncle Xi Men and Aunty Xiao You are kissing!” Alex exclaimed.

“Yes, sweetie, that’s because they love each other,” Lei said, “Like how daddy and mommy loves you,”

“No! Like how daddy and mommy love each other and kissed!” Alex corrected Lei.

Lei and Jing eyed Alex.

Ah Si and Mei Zhuo exchanged gazes while San Chai and Xiao Qiao laughed.

As Xi Men and Xiao You continued to kiss passionately on the stage, tears fell onto Xiao You’s cheek; and few seconds later, Xi Men’s tears fell too.

Xi Men gently breaks the kiss off and looked at Xiao You closely.

“You are my wife now,” Xi Men said, caressing her cheek and then wiped her tears away.

Xiao You nodded, “Yes,” she raised her hand up to wipe his tears too. “I am,”

“Finally,” he said, smiling at her and then sniffs quickly. “I love you, Mrs. Xi Men,”

Xiao You lets out a chuckle upon hearing it, “I love you too, my beloved husband,”

He smiled, and kissed her again.

“Let’s give them applause, shall we?” Mei Zhuo looked at Lei & Ah Si and said.

Lei and Ah Si exchanged glances.

“Sure, why not?” Lei said.

And then the F3 clapped, their wives joins a few claps after, and the guests joined soon.

Xi Men’s father clapped in admiration.

Xiao You’s father smiled in adoration.

Xi Men’s mother and Xiao You’s mother exchanged gazes, and they smiled at each other in happiness.

Pre-lunch reception cocktail.

“Congratulations, CEO Xi Men,”

“Thank you, President Yu,” Xi Men smiled, accepting the handshake from his client. “Hello, Mrs. Yu,”

“Hello, CEO Xi Men, congratulations on your wedding,” Mrs. Yu extends her hand out this time.

“Thank you, Mrs. Yu. Thank you for coming,” Xi Men said, accepting her handshake.

“Have to say, your wife is very beautiful,” President Yu said.

“Thank you for the compliment, President Yu,” Xi Men is all smiles now.

“Where is she, by the way?” President Yu said, looking to the left and right.

“She is in the bridal room preparing for the reception,” Xi Men smiled.

“Ah… I see. So, mind telling me how do you meet her?” President Yu asked.

Xi Men remained smiling, “Well…” he said, “What about waiting for another hour and I’ll tell it in the ballroom?”

President Yu exchanged glances with his wife.

In bridal room; a given room by the hotel for preparation purposes not too far from the ballroom,

“Xiao You,”

Xiao You’s eyes strayed to the left, “Hi San Chai,” she smiled, while her face remained straightened as Angeline, the makeup artist is touching up on her makeup to prepare her for the lunch reception.

“Mrs. Hua Ze, Mrs. Ling, Mrs. Dao Ming,” Angeline called.

“Hello,” Jing, Xiao Qiao and San Chai said to Angeline.

“Hmmm? Xiao Qiao and Jing are here too?” Xiao You asked, as she can’t turn her head to look.

“Yes, we are here,” Jing and Xiao Qiao replied at the same time.

“Why are you here?” Xiao You asked.

“If you are worried about the reception counter, don’t worry about that, because we came to tell you, all of your guests have arrived,” Xiao Qiao said, sitting down on the couch behind Xiao You.

“All?” Xiao You asked, looking at Xiao Qiao from the mirror.

“Yes. Everyone is on time,” Jing said. “Early, in fact, and 15 minutes to go before your lunch reception starts,”

“15 minutes to go and all have arrived?” Xiao You asked.

“Yes. And you know what, there is no rush. Just take your time. Your wedding somehow became like some meeting or business conference; all of our husbands are out there talking to the businessmen,” San Chai said.

Xiao You smiled, “Okay, before I forget to say this; thanks for helping me out at the reception counter,”

“No problem,” Jing replied.

Xiao You smiled.

Jing, Xiao Qiao and San Chai smiled at Xiao You via the mirror.

Angeline takes a step back and looked at the makeup she had done on Xiao You’s face. “It is done, Miss Yang,” she smiled.

“Thank you, Angeline,” Xiao You smiled.

Angeline gave a small bow to Xiao You.

“Xiao You, now that you had married Xi Men officially…”

Xiao You turned her head to look at Xiao Qiao. “Hmmm?”

“We are welcoming you to the Mrs. F4 club!” Jing, Xiao Qiao and San Chai said at the same time.

Xiao You’s smile grew immediately and in mere seconds she laughed. “Thank you!”

She can’t help it that tears formed in her eyes right after that.

“This space has always been reserved for you, and we are so glad this day has come!” San Chai said, leaning over to Xiao You but paused upon seeing her teary eyes. “Ah, are you going to cry?”

“Yes, I wanted to but I can’t!” Xiao You said happily, and quickly grabbing a sheet of tissue. “It is going to smear my make up!”

Everyone laughed.

“Let me, Miss Yang,” Angeline quickly stepped in.

San Chai stepped back to give way to Angeline.

“Sorry for the trouble, and thank you, Angeline,” Xiao You said, passing the sheet of tissue to Angeline.

“It is okay,” Angeline smiled as she gently leaned the tissue onto Xiao You’s face, right underneath her eyes.

“Thank you, San Chai, really…” Xiao You extends her hand out (while she had to face Angeline for Angeline is drying her tears) and San Chai holds the extended hand and pats it.

Xiao Qiao then holds onto Xiao You’s hand after San Chai gives way for her (Xiao Qiao), “I am so happy that we have a new gossip-mate now,” she pats Xiao You’s hand.

Xiao You chuckled and then she sniffs.

“And you know what Mrs. F4 club is available for?” Jing asked, looking at Xiao You.

“Hmmm?” Xiao You asked, and Xiao Qiao releases the hand.

Jing holds onto Xiao You’s hand, “Your channel to complain about your husband! And then it’ll travel to the other F3 and then your husband will be summoned and punished!”

Xiao You laughed upon hearing it. “Thank you so much for making me part of you,”

“You didn’t know how long you’ve been part of us, Xiao You. We have been waiting for this day to see you officially become part of us,” Xiao Qiao said.

“Yes,” Jing and San Chai said at the same time.

“Thank you. Thank you so much. I am really, really happy,” Xiao You smiled.

Angeline then takes a step back after drying Xiao You’s tears.

“Thank you for completing us,” Jing smiled.

Xiao You smiled cheerfully.

Knock! Knock!

All of them turned their heads to look at the door.

“Come in,” Xiao You called out.

*Door opened.

Xiao You immediately smiled upon seeing the person who opens the door.

He had his widest smile ever on his face. “Hi honey. All of our guests have arrived. We can start the reception anytime. Whenever you are ready,” Xi Men smiled.

“Okay, then let’s do that now. I am ready,” Xiao You said.

Sitting at the VIP table in front of the stage, Xiao You lifted her head up and looked at the beautiful fresh flowers arrangement on the table.

Mix of purple, red and white lilies.

So beautiful.

Her florist did a good job.

Her mind traveled to the particular day Xi Men and she went to discuss with the florist about the flowers she wanted to have on the wedding day.

She smiled at the recollection.

But soon, her smile slowly fades.

That… that was the day…

Tragedy struck.

Mark hits their car, kidnapped them, tied them up to their chairs and…

“Xiao You?”

Upon hearing the calling, she opened her eyes and turned to look at Xi Men who is sitting next to her, not knowing when she had actually closed her eyes.

“Hmmm?” she looked at him.

“Are you alright? Uncomfortable somewhere?” Xi Men asked.

She looked at his face, knowing exactly where the healing scratches and scars on his face are, and they had been covered up perfectly for this day.

She smiled and shook, “No. I am fine,”

“Really?” he asked, moving his entire body to face her and placed his left hand on her chair.

“Yes. Why do you ask?” she asked.

“You are not eating,” he smiled.

She smiled, “Well, just thinking of something,”

“And that is?” he picked her food up from her plate with his pair of chopsticks and then raised it to her mouth.

She chuckled as she then opened her mouth and eats the piece of de-shelled prawn.

“Hmmm, now I am not talking when I am eating,” she munches after that.

“Ahhh… my bad,” he said regretfully but soon smiled.

She smiled as she continues munching her food.

Soon, she looked around the ballroom.

Such a luxurious venue for their nuptial.

She had never thought she’ll marry in such a glamorous way.

60 tables filled the hall; all fully occupied by their guests.

Lei, Jing and Alex; Mei Zhuo, Xiao Qiao and Wei Yi (daughter) & Wei Juin (son); Ah Si, San Chai and Ah Chen (eldest son), Ah Mei (daughter) & Ah Qiang (youngest son) are all seated at the table just next to their VIP table.

She had never thought these friends will be at her wedding.

Or rather, more precisely, she had never thought she’ll marry Xi Men.

She had never given it a thought that she’ll ever meet Xi Men or be with him, what’s more about becoming his wife and sticks with him for the rest of her life.

“Xi Men and Xiao You look so happy,” Lei said while his gaze is at Xi Men and Xiao You at the VIP table.

Jing turned to look at Lei when he said that, before she gazes towards Xi Men and Xiao You.

Jing smiled. “Yes. Xi Men looked bliss. And he is genuinely happy and ecstatic on his wedding day,”

Lei turned his head to look at Jing and smiled. “I remember our conversation about Xi Men not being the happiest groom at his first wedding,”

“Yes. And look at him now. He is all smiles, not like how he is at the previous one. This is the Xi Men that is happy with his wedding, as he is marrying the one he loves, not the one he is being set up with,” Jing said.

Lei nodded as he turned to look at Xi Men again, “Yes, you are right. I am happy for Xi Men now. He is finally settling down with the one he loves wholeheartedly… after going thru so much with her, and for her,”

Jing smiled. “I don’t feel sorry for him anymore. In fact, I am glad. I am really happy with this ending. Xi Men and Xiao You, together, after all the conflicts,”

The love song currently played by the live band at the corner of the hall suddenly softened.

Everyone turned their heads to look at the emcee on the stage.

“I would like to invite Mr. Xi Men and Miss Yang… whom is now Mrs. Xi Men, onto the stage for the cake cutting ceremony,” the emcee smiled.

Lei, Mei Zhuo and Ah Si start clapping and everyone else followed suit.

Xi Men & Xiao You smiled and both of them rose to their feet.

Xi Men pushes the chair slightly to make way for Xiao You, since she has to move from the table as well as taking care of her custom-made dress at the same time.

He then extends his hand for Xiao You to hold, before both of them walked to the stage and heads to the three-tier cake.

“Daddy, there’s cake,” Wei Yi said to Mei Zhuo. “Can we eat that?”

“We have to ask Uncle Xi Men and Aunty Xiao You if they can give you some,” Mei Zhuo smiled, before he leaned closer to Xiao Qiao. “Do you happen to know if the cake is real…?”

Xiao Qiao smiled, “Yes, it is real. Xiao You didn’t want a mock cake; so everybody will get a piece of it after they cut it,”

“Ahh, that’s good,” Mei Zhuo said, and then leaned over to his daughter. “Yes, sweetie, you’ll get the cake later,”

“Yay!” Wei Yi said.

The emcee extends the knife to Xi Men and Xiao You.

“The bride has to hold the knife, and the groom will place his hand over her hand,” the emcee said.

Xiao You took the knife from the emcee’s hand.

Xi Men watches the passes of the knife from the emcee’s hand to Xiao You’s hand.

Xi Men’s eyes followed the raised bloody knife in Mark’s hand… too weak to defend for himself…

Xi Men stares at the knife in front of him, and then swallowed the lump in his throat.

Xiao You lifted her head up and looked at Xi Men, and noted the look on his face looking at the knife in her hand.

That prompted Xiao You to look at the knife in her hand, before returning her gaze to him; immediately realizes the connection between the knife, and his facial expression.

Everyone pondered why is Xi Men standing there, not doing anything.

“What is Xi Men doing; not taking the knife?” Ah Si asked.

Lei suddenly snapped at the word ‘knife’, “Crap, he can’t be afraid of knives, right?” Lei asked.

Jing, Mei Zhuo, Xiao Qiao, Ah Si and San Chai looked at Lei, before they turned to look at the stage.

“Oh shit…” Mei Zhuo uttered. “This can’t be happening…”
