“What are we supposed to do now?” Jing asked, sitting on the couch next to Xiao You’s bed.
“I don’t know. 6 weeks…” Lei scratched his head. “Did she tell you before if she had any boyfriend or something?”
“No,” Jing said. “So now I don’t know who the guy is!”
“Like I know,” Lei rolled his eyes.
“I wonder if she knows she is pregnant,” Jing said, looking at the sleeping Xiao You.
“She said she is unwell this morning, maybe she is nauseous. But given a woman who is pregnant, she might have nausea frequently, and in that case, it is almost impossible the woman doesn’t know she is pregnant,” Lei said.
“There is always an exception,” Jing said. “And besides, she is just 6 weeks pregnant! It means she may just start feeling nauseous recently. Not like few months!”
Lei looked at her, and then he turned to look at Xiao You. He stood there for a while. Like something struck his mind, he called. “Honey…”
Jing looked at him, and then she looked at Xiao You. “What?” she did not see any sign of her moving or waking up.
“6 weeks ago…” Lei turned to look at Jing. “It’s my company’s annual dinner,”
“And…?” Jing asked.
“She sleeps with Xi Men that night,” Lei said.
“You mean it’s Xi Men?” Jing gaped. “The father of the baby is Xi Men?!”
“If he is the only person she sleeps with 6 weeks ago,” Lei said.
“This is bad…” Jing said. “We are doing all the assumptions, that if Xi Men is the father of the baby, or if she sleeps with anyone else,”
“One more thing,” Lei said.
Jing looked at him.
“If it really is Xi Men… how?” Lei asked.
“What do you mean how?”
“We’ve agreed to Xiao You. The identity of XYZ is to be kept secret,”
“We have come to a point that we cannot keep the identity secret from Xi Men anymore. If the baby is his’, he deserves to know,” Jing said.
“But how about Xiao You? If Xi Men deserves to know the baby is his’ then does Xiao You wanted him to know?” Lei asked.
“If Xiao You wouldn’t, can you lead your life well without telling Xi Men knowing that someday you saw the child she carries with is his son?” Jing asked. “Can you even sleep at night with that secret?”
“Have it come across your mind that this is nothing to do with us, but theirs?” Lei asked.
“Lei, you have to understand in this situation, she is a woman. Is it fair for her to bear the child alone without Xi Men when he is supposed to be responsible?” Jing asked.
“I supposed the doctor told you about my pregnancy,”
Lei and Jing both turned and looked at Xiao You.
Xiao You opened her eyes and did not move her head or body. “The baby is mine. You don’t have to fight because of me,” she said, but not looking at them. “It is not your baby,”
“Xiao You… are you alright…” Jing asked, as she walked to Xiao You and sits next to her on the bed.
“I think I had one of the deepest sleeps I ever had, but short-lived,” Xiao You slowly turned her head and looked at them. “Because you both fight too loud it woke me up,”
Lei and Jing looked at each other. “Oops… sorry,” they said together.
Xiao You smirked lightly. “The doctor gave me sleep-inducing injection so that I can sleep soundly because she knows I can’t sleep well. And yet you guys’ voices are so loud it woke me up,”
“We are truly sorry…” Jing said.
“What is there to fight about. I don’t even know my stuffs became your stuffs,” Xiao You said.
“Xiao You… you know about your pregnancy?” Jing asked.
“How long have you found out?” Lei asked. “The doctor told you?”
“I found out myself couple of days ago, so I already know before I came in,” Xiao You said. “The doctor just confirmed with me the duration that I have been pregnant,”
“Why didn’t you tell us…” Lei asked.
Xiao You smirked. “What is there to tell. It is not important,”
“Xiao You, don’t say that it is not important. We are your friends, we care about you. Who is the father…” Jing asked.
“Why do you want to know,” Xiao You said.
“If it is Xi Men, I want him to be responsible,” Jing said. “And I know he will,”
“But how about your identity as XYZ?” Lei asked. “Even though we promised not to tell, if Xi Men is the father…”
“What if he is not the father?” Xiao You asked. “You still want him to be responsible? You want to force him to be responsible for someone’s child?”
Jing and Lei looked at Xiao You. “Errr…”
“This is all about me. I don’t want you both to fight because of me. It is not worth it,” Xiao You said. “You both already sounded that you want to kill each other, I think it is enough,”
“But Xiao You…” Lei said. “You need to tell us… did you sleep with anyone else besides Xi Men…”
“It doesn’t matter, you know,” Xiao You said.
“You really do not want us to know…” Jing said.
“Just let me be,” Xiao You said.
“Is the baby that causes you to faint today…?” Lei asked.
Xiao You just smirked. “Maybe,”
“You said you were unwell this morning,” Lei said.
“Yeah. Nauseous,” she replied.
“So… if the father is not Xi Men… and if you have a boyfriend… we have to let the father know too… who can I contact?” Jing asked.
“No one. Not needed,” Xiao You said.
“But Xiao You… why are you saying it as if you don’t care…” Lei said.
Xiao You smirked. “Let me sleep… will you,” she ignored him.
Jing and Lei took a deep breath. “Okay,” they agreed.
“Thanks,” she turned slightly and closed her eyes, hoping to go into deep slumber.
Lei took a deep breath. “She didn’t mention anything,”
“I know,” Jing said.
“Since she didn’t mention anything about prohibiting the friends to know about her here, I am going to let the gang knows about her admitting into the hospital so they can visit her when they want,” Lei said.
“Okay. I’ll be here,” Jing said.
Lei looked up. “Hey, Mei Zhuo, Xiao Qiao,” he called, looking at the couple heading towards them. And then he saw Xi Men running up to them from the back of Mei Zhuo.
“What happened?” Mei Zhuo asked.
“Hey Lei. Hey Mei Zhuo, Xiao Qiao,” Xi Men immediately said.
Mei Zhuo and Xiao Qiao turned their heads and looked at Xi Men.
“Hey, you are here too,” Mei Zhuo said.
“Yeah. Lei called. What happened to Xiao You?” Xi Men asked.
“She fainted at the set,” Lei said.
“Is she alright now?” Xiao Qiao asked.
“She is sleeping in the room. Just don’t wake her up,” Lei said.
“Oh okay. By the way, Ah Si is on his way here now. He just landed this morning,” Mei Zhuo said. “I told him that Xiao You is admitted into the hospital and San Chai was screaming at the back when Ah Si repeated what I said over the phone,”
“Just landed this morning? Why, he sounds so secretive about it. Is he a celebrity or what,” Lei said.
“He told me, and expects me to tell everyone. And the problem is… I didn’t,” Mei Zhuo laughed.
“Hey, this is hospital,” Xi Men said. “Don’t laugh so loud your voice can trigger the heart beat machine go bonkers,”
Mei Zhuo immediately stopped laughing and looked at Xi Men, “That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life,”
“So that you can shut up and go in and check out the patient,” Xi Men said, and then turned to look at Lei, “Can we go in now?”
“Why, of course. I am not the doctor or security guard of the room to block you from entering,” Lei said.
Xi Men walked to the door and opened it. He saw Jing sitting on the couch, she raised up her head and looked at Xi Men.
“Hey, Jing,” Xi Men said.
“Hi, Xi Men,” Jing said.
Xi Men smiled, and then he looked at Xiao You sleeping peacefully on the bed. Mei Zhuo and Xiao Qiao followed at the back.
“Hi Jing,” Mei Zhuo and Xiao Qiao said.
“Hello Mei Zhuo, Xiao Qiao,” Jing said. “Shhh… she has only slept for 30 minutes. Don’t wake her up. If you want to chat, chat at outside,”
“Oh,” Xi Men said, and then he placed his finger on his lips to signify silence.
“Where is Lei?” Jing asked softly.
“He is outside, waiting for Ah Si and San Chai to come,” Xiao Qiao replied softly.
“What did the doctor said about her?” Mei Zhuo asked softly.
“That she is lethargic and stressed. She needs rest. She’ll be here for a few days,” Jing said.
“Oh…” Mei Zhuo said.
“She looked so peaceful when she sleeps,” Xi Men said softly.
“I think it’s due to the sleep induced injection that she was given, I think she can’t sleep well at night,” Jing said.
“I see… poor thing,” Xi Men said, lowered down his head lightly as he recalled that he cannot sleep well at night too, but it wasn’t as bad as he fainted at work or something. Worst thing that happened in the past was when he suffered from the stomach pain that resulted in him having to undergo operation.
Xi Men raised his head. Sniff. He turned his head and sniff again.
Mei Zhuo, Xiao Qiao and Jing looked at him.
“Hey dude, what are you doing?” Mei Zhuo asked softly.
“I smell something,” Xi Men said. Sniff. Sniff.
He turned to the side, bended his upper body and smell on the cups and things on the side table. Then he looked up, turned to the other side and sniff again.
“What is it???” Mei Zhuo asked.
“I smelt something. It is a very familiar smell. It was here briefly and now it is gone. I am trying to get it back,” Xi Men said, trying to smell here and there.
He even reached to Mei Zhuo, who is standing next to him, and he smelt Mei Zhuo’s coat.
“Dude, you are bugging me, please, stop doing it,” Mei Zhuo said. “ARGH. Since when you are a dog!”
“SHHHH!!!” Jing and Xiao Qiao said.
Xiao You moved a bit on the bed.
All of them looked at Xiao You, and relieved that she is not awaken by them.
“See what you did?” Jing said.
Xi Men looked at Mei Zhuo. “The smell is gone,”
“What smell is that?” Mei Zhuo said.
“I don’t know… but it is something sweet…” Xi Men said, scratching his head, and then he turned looking at Xiao You.
Someone opened the door. They all looked at the door.
San Chai, protruded her head in with a finger on her lips, like a kid that is taught by her teacher to be quiet. “Hi all…” she waved.
“Hi…” they responded softly.
“Lei said she is asleep. So… shhhhhh…” San Chai said.
“Yes, she is,” Jing said softly.
“Hi guys…” Ah Si said, behind San Chai.
San Chai turned and “SHHH!!!!” at Ah Si.
“I am soft already!” Ah Si said softly.
“SHH!” San Chai said.
Ah Si looked at her, and he rolled his eyes. Might as well don’t say anything.
San Chai turned to look at Xiao You. “Good that she is sleeping soundly…”
“Doctor said that she will be here for days,” Lei said, entered, as he was standing outside just now waiting for Ah Si and San Chai.
“Oh…” San Chai said.
“I think I’ll go to her place and get her stuffs since she will be in the hospital for days…” Lei said.
“Okay, I’ll search thru her stuffs for her house keys,” Jing said.
“I’ll go with you,” Xi Men said.
“You?” Lei asked, looking at Xi Men.
“Yeah. Hope you don’t mind. We have San Chai and Xiao Qiao here, they can take care of Xiao You since they are all women. So… I’ll go with you and Jing to pack her stuffs,” Xi Men said. “After all I also feel like I needed a walk,”
“Okay then,” Lei said.
